Stockholm Fashion District is a creative, vibrant and innovative district for the Swedish fashion industry. The district is a cluster for business and creativity with showrooms, trade fairs, buying days, production, pop up events, education and business development for the fashion industry.

Each season, 900 Swedish and international brands show their new collections or attend one of the many events organized in the district. Stockholm Fashion District is a unique platform founded by and for the Swedish fashion industry by the Association of Trade Partners Sweden. Welcome to Stockholm Fashion District.

Your creations are often floating and look beautiful in motion with fantastic cuts and choices of materials. The garments often make you think of dancing and you often collaborate with dancers and dance performances in various forms in the presentation of your collections.



Hi Daniel Lindström, Fashion Editor and Creative Director at Café Magazine, which is the best spot for a casual or more formal business meeting?
“Taverna Brillo. Sometimes I spend an entire day here. It’s an amazing place with great food, crowd and service. There is (almost) always some tables available.”

Best bar or restaurant?
“PA&Co, everything you can ask for. An excellent bistro for late night dining with Stockholm locals.”

Favourite walk or run?
“Djurgården. A tranquil oasis in the middle of Stockholm.”

Best shopping?
“Nitty Gritty. The leading and most inspiring multi brand store in Scandinavia.”

Your favourite hangout on days off?
“Nationalmuseum. After five years of renovation and rebuilding Sweden’s art and design museum is open again. It’s a beautiful space and so many objects and art to discover.”

The future of retail

We continue to explore new concepts and future retail. Sneaky Steve is a Swedish shoe brand with great knowledge in crafts and leather. They have several own stores, run their own e-commerce and can be found at over 400 external retailers. During the autumn they tested the store trend showrooming with digital screens in the middle of Nordstan in Gothenburg. We have talked to Sneaky Steve’s founder Måns Månsson about the experience and what he thinks about the future of retail.

What are the main benefits of the showrooming concept?
“For us at Sneaky Steve, The Fitting Room responds to many of the challenges we have with traditional retailers. Here, customers are given the opportunity to explore, try and order shoes from our entire range available online. Thanks to the customer trying out the shoe before ordering, we were not as affected by costly returns. In the fitting rooms, the customer can look at themselves in an optional virtual environment where music, light and image contribute to setting the right mood and atmosphere. We are very impressed with the outcome of The Fitting Room, which increased our total e-commerce sales by 43%. We also reduced the percentage of returns by 89%.”

What do you think stores will look in the future?
“Digitization will go faster and faster so you need to increase speed rather than slowing down. The physical store will not disappear, but it will be located where the customers are. A large responsibility lays on the real estate owners to adapt premises after the omni-way of thinking and make them smaller. I can also see more collaboration between several brands where you share a surface in order to make it more interesting for the consumers and to be able to own the margin all the way.”

A Stockholms guide from a friend to the district

This week, Anna Gissler, CEO of Stockholm Business Region, shares her Stockholm Guide. The company with its two subsidiaries; Visit Stockholm and Invest Stockholm, are responsible for promoting and developing Stockholm as a business and tourist destination under the brand Stockholm – The Capital of Scandinavia. Stockholm Business Region work closely with the business community, academic and other institutions, as well as with various organizations such as Stockholm Fashion District to to make Stockholm the leading sustainable growth region in Europe.

Which is the best spot for a casual or more formal business meeting?
“I like the international and relaxed feeling that a hotel lobby gives. There are lots of new hotels in Stockholm. Just to mention a few; At Six, Downtown Camper and Bank Hotel. If a meet with a start-up or entrepreur, I choose the lobby at Epicenter, one of all the co-working spaces in Stockholm.”



Fashion week in Stockholm Fashion District begins on the 4th of February. A week full of inspiration, knowledge and glimpses of the future, with open showrooms and with trade fairs full of new collections, interesting seminars and several events as well as a 10 year anniversary. Nordic Lab returns with a more developed concept where knowledge and innovation are presented in workshops and seminars available to all visitors. This time, fashion week in the Stockholm Fashion District coincides with the runway shows during Fashion Week Stockholm and Stockholm Design Week, which further strengthens the platform for fashion in Sweden.


The State of Fashion 2019

What will the year 2109 hold for the fashion industry? Full of possibilities but also some dark clouds.

The fashion industry is in a paradigm shift with new business models, new technology and an increased demand for sustainability. But what new trends are coming and what lays ahead? McKinsey & Company have together with Business of Fashion immersed in the issue and present the result in an annual report, “The State of Fashion 2019”. The report describes in an interesting way the opportunities that are created, but also the risks for players in the industry.
