Indigo Market was started in 2019 when, during one of our trips, we came into contact with a small family-owned company that manufactures sandals in Crete. The sandals are made by hand by skilled craftsmen according to a traditional technique that has existed around the Mediterranean for centuries.

The idea of ​​producing handmade leather sandals came to us many years earlier when we ran a shop in central Stockholm. There we worked with new garments every season, but some products felt just as relevant year after year. Among other things, classic handmade leather sandals.

Even the ancient Greeks made and wore handmade sandals that are no different from the pair you wear today – a more timeless piece would be hard to find.

By slow fashion we mean classic products that last over time and are produced on a small scale with high quality and as natural materials as possible. We work closely with the skilled craftsmen in our factory and the sandals are made under good conditions. The leather is chrome free and will age beautifully.

As an old Grecophile, it is wonderful to be able to support skilled craftsmen and preserve traditional crafts in Crete. We place great value on the relationship with our supplier.

We are now developing the range of garments produced with the same thought in mind. Small-scale and artisanal. Stay tuned here for news.
