
High-level meeting strengthens collaboration between Swedish fashion industry and government
Last week, Stockholm Fashion District andTrade Partners Sweden participated in a high-level meeting with the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade,Benjamin Dousa, and the Minister for Culture, Parisa Liljestrand, atOscar Jacobson‘s headquarters. As part of the ministers’ efforts, site visits are being made to various companies in the fashion industry to gain deeper insights into key issues. During the meeting,Helena Waker, CEO of Trade Partners Sweden and Stockholm Fashion District, andRichard Woodbridge, CEO of Oscar Jacobson, presented their respective organizations, thereby illustrating the industry’s work across multiple levels.
Topics discussed during the meeting included exports, the importance of collaboration to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish fashion, and upcoming challenges in light of new EU regulations for the textile and fashion industry.
Close cooperation between the government and the industry is essential to strengthen Sweden’s international position, and the dialogue with the government will continue.
The Swedish fashion industry has an annual turnover of SEK 188 billion and employs 42,000 people, highlighting the importance of investing in this sector.
