PRESS RELEASE 07.08.25: Global Brands Choose Stockholm – Strong Interest in Fashion Week Trade

Stockholm Fashion District, Sweden’s leading trade hub for fashion, is contributing to significant growth in the Swedish fashion industry. The record-breaking participation of both Swedish and international players during Fashion Week Trade, August 11–15, arranged by the district, confirms Sweden’s attractiveness and export potential.  With over 700 brands present, Sweden establishes itself as a leading fashion destination.

Fashion Week Trade serves as a driving force in the fashion business – promoting growth, innovation, and sustainable development. By bringing together creative and commercial forces such as designers, brands, agents, retailers, academia, and organisations, the event strengthens both imports and exports.

We have recreated Sweden’s fashion fair, which is an important prerequisite and opportunity for the growth of fashion, both nationally and internationally.”, says Helena Waker, CEO of Trade Partners Sweden and Stockholm Fashion District. She continues:

The record-breaking presence of international brands, as well as premium players, confirms Sweden’s appeal as a fashion destination. Knowledge exchange, networking, and export opportunities are greater than they have been in many years.

Throughout the week, the district will be filled with fashion companies spread across more than 140 showrooms and two large exhibition halls. Over 700 brands and companies are participating, and notably, Bestseller, one of Europe’s largest fashion groups, is expanding its presence in Stockholm by exhibiting several of its brands.

A growing segment in Stockholm Fashion District is premium brands within both womenswear and menswear . Recently established is Teko Trading Agency, which has opened its doors in Stockholm Showroom with brands such as MooRER, Jacob Cohën, and Bob Wolf.

During Fashion Week Trade, industry professionals gather for relevant business meetings as well as seminars, exhibitions, launches, and networking events – all part of the official program.

Fashion Industry Gaining Momentum
New figures from the Swedish Trade Federation (Svensk Handel) show that the fashion retail sector in Sweden is recovering. In June, clothing sales increased by 10.1 percent and footwear sales by 12.4 percent – the largest increase so far this year.

This is a clear signal that consumer willingness is back. We believe in a positive future for Swedish fashion retail, especially when combined with creativity, Swedish values, collaboration, innovation, and increased international visibility”, says Helena Waker.

Today, the Swedish fashion industry accounts for 0.7 percent of GDP and employs over 40,000 people. The export value has more than doubled over the past decade and now amounts to approximately SEK 32 billion. Through Stockholm Fashion District, the industry gains a natural arena for business, innovation, and knowledge exchange – in line with the national Team Sweden strategy for sustainable exports and collaboration between business and public sectors.
