Press release 25.06.09: Well-known companies are investing in Stockholm Fashion District – growth in the Swedish footwear industry.

According to the Swedish Trade Federation’s Stilindex for March, footwear sales increased by 9.8% compared to the same month last year, with physical shoe retail seeing a 10.4% boost. This positive trend in the footwear industry is also reflected at the business hub Stockholm Shoe House in Stockholm Fashion District, where several established brands have chosen to expand and invest in new showrooms this spring – a strong indicator of the robust development and position of the footwear sector in Sweden.

Since its launch in 2009, Stockholm Shoe House has grown organically through six phases and today offers 5,000 square meters across 55 showrooms, hosting both Swedish and international brands. During spring 2025, several well-established brands have chosen to expand their showroom space in the building—an important development that highlights the significance of a central meeting point for the industry. Among the brands expanding are Skechers (represented by Sport Connection), Tamaris and Tamaris Bags (represented by Reijs Agenturer), Rieker (represented by MKM Trading), Viking Footwear, as well as Scorett and Multibrand Nordics.

“Stockholm Shoe House is an important meeting place for us in the industry, and we’re very pleased to be expanding our showroom further. It’s a space where we can meet and welcome customers, creating a more efficient buying process that benefits both us and the buyers,” says Linnea Edenor, Sales Manager for Skechers in Sweden and Finland.

Several well-known Swedish brands are also represented in Stockholm Shoe House, including Gant, Icebug, Alberville, Björn Borg, Ten Points, and Sneaky Steve.

Another initiative from Stockholm Fashion District is the Swedish Shoe Environmental Initiative (SSEI), launched in 2012. Through SSEI, Swedish stakeholders have actively shared knowledge on sustainable production and design practices since its inception.

Stockholm Fashion District works to promote growth and collaboration within the Swedish footwear industry, among others. Through showrooms, trade shows, and networking events, it creates platforms where brands connect with buyers and retailers—strengthening trade relations and positioning Sweden as a global leader in innovative and sustainable fashion, including shoes and textiles.

“What we are building here is new business opportunities and a vibrant meeting place for trade and development within the footwear industry. The fact that so many companies are choosing to further invest in their showrooms in the district is a very positive sign for Swedish retail,” says Helena Waker, CEO of Stockholm Fashion District & Trade Partners Sweden.

During Fashion Week Trade, taking place August 11–15, approximately 700 fashion and footwear brands are expected to showcase their collections to both Swedish and international buyers.
