When Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan read the script for the new film about Cruella de Vil, she could not help but agree to work on the film, which this time takes place in 1970s London. 47 exchanges for the main character Emma Stone, 33 for Emma Thompson’s character and in addition other characters and extras to dress (including the film’s dogs). Only Emma Stone’s clothing in Cruella is the most comprehensive and expensive costume Jenny Beavan has ever made.
She tells DN:
“I love buying fabric, even though I can get help with it nowadays, I like to do it myself. Before this film, I filled the car with fabric rolls and went down to the coast and my colleague Jane Law, we took the kitchen and draped fabric after fabric on her mannequins.”
