Store of the Month March 2024: Gunns Mode

For 65 years, Gunns Mode has been around in Klippan, it is the oldest store in the area and we have met Helena, who has run the store since 2005, when she took over the store from her mother Gun. In the store, the customer will find something for every occasion, carefully selected and with a personal touch. With their traditional bubble Friday, they are growing on TikTok, read more about their exciting stories in the interview below! 

Tell us about Gunns Mode, how did it all start?
Gunns Mode is Klippan’s oldest store, my mother Gun opened the store in 1958, I have worked in the store since 1987 and in 2005 I took over the business. Last year we celebrated our 65th anniversary and it feels big and fantastic. At first, self-designed hats that my mother made were sold, but over the years more segments have been added and now there is everything from clothes, jewelry and shoes, among other things.

In the store, the customer will find several different exciting brands, what kind of strategy do you have for your assortment?
Our strategy is to handpick and match special pieces with a personal touch. We want a range you can’t find everywhere, and there should always be several tops to match a bottom with. More tops are sold because that is what is seen the most. With us, the customer should be able to dress from head to toe (underwear, clothes, jewellery, scarves, bags and shoes).

What are the most fun things about running a store?
It’s so much fun meeting people, no two days are the same. It’s so fun to go on shopping trips and choose what to sell in my store. Then I appreciate hanging out in the store in different groups so that you “think for the customer”, and help to match in completely new combinations. It always feels good to make the customer happy with our service and through our range, customers come back and have told others that you always find something at Gunns Mode, and that they feel that they always get great help – it makes me feel warm inside!

Please tell us more about your involvement with fashion shows and your social media visibility, I see you growing on TikTok!
We usually have 4-6 fashion shows a year, places sell out quickly with 45 places/night, this spring it sold out in record time. We also organize girls’ nights, when you can book the store after closing for yourself and your girlfriends if there are 10-20 of you. Then we offer a mini fashion show, snacks and drinks, then you go shopping, have fun and advise each other’s tastes.
