Metro Konfektion Kristinehamn

Store of the month May 2024: Metro Konfektion

In the heart of Kristinehamn, we find the fashion store Metro Konfektion with its 1200 square meters of retail space. The owners are Roger and Lotta Isberg, who like to visit Stockholm Fashion District several times a year to bring home inspiring fashion to Värmland. We have been given the opportunity to hear about their store and what makes Metro a favorite place for all fashion enthusiasts.

Tell us about the store, how did it all start?

– We bought the store in 2010 from Kenneth and Marianne Nilsson, who started it in the mid-1960s, so we’ve had it for 14 years now. I was previously the district manager for Suzuki motorcycles and my wife Lotta was previously a store manager at Polarn O. Pyret for 10 years, says Roger.

Since then, they have not only taken over the store, but also expanded and changed premises to an impressive area of 1,200 square meters on Kungsgatan in Kristinehamn.

What kind of strategy do you have when it comes to your assortment?

– With a large store comes great variety, and we take advantage of our entire area by having a large selection of both affordable and premium fashion. It suits small towns to be able to offer mixed clothes in different price ranges catering to all customers. We also want it to be easy for the customer to find items in our store, therefore we have a strategy that integrates the “shop in shop” concept, which makes it easier for customers to navigate and find their favorite brands, says Roger.

Tell us about your best tips for giving the customer the best treatment?

– When it comes to giving the customer the best treatment, it is the meeting with the customer that is the key. Clothes can be found everywhere, but we want to offer a personal experience. Metro strives to be more than just a store by offering tailored advice and assistance to each customer. Sometimes, people may enter the store needing a completely new wardrobe and we are able to help them with our large selection, catering to many of the customers’ wishes, say Roger and Lotta.

Some of Metro’s most popular events are their fashion shows that take place twice a year. There are usually about 100–120 people in attendance. The purpose of these shows is not only to showcase new collections, but also to create an atmosphere of community and joy among customers.

What identifies a good collaboration between supplier and store?

– We believe in building strong ties with our suppliers. For example, we previously had some suppliers who also participated in our fashion shows and sponsored with prizes for the lottery that all customers participated in when they visited our fashion shows, explains Roger.

This partnership is an important part of Metro’s success and customers appreciate the added value that their fashion shows bring. Metro is a central gathering place in Kristinehamn, not least for those who are interested in fashion. It’s worth a visit!
