Copenhagen Fashion Week started this week
This week, Copenhagen Fashion Week started with both fashion shows and CIFF, the International Fashion Fair.
The opening speech for the week was given by Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, and followed by Anne Pascual, Senior Vice President of Design, Marketing and Content at Zalando, and Arizona Muse, CPHFW Sustainability Ambassador. Cecilie Thorsmark expressed optimism but also her open concern about our industry, noting that it is going through a very tough time. Unfortunately, both classic and new brands have disappeared from the market. She emphasized that we all must work hard for change, to overcome these challenging times, and to drive the fashion industry’s transformation.
Sustainability is also the core focus for Copenhagen Fashion Week, which strives to make substantial changes to inspire and encourage the industry to accelerate their sustainability efforts.
In January 2020, Copenhagen Fashion Week unveiled an ambitious three-year Sustainability Action Plan, presenting an innovative system of requirements for brands to be part of the official schedule for fashion shows. The Action Plan is revised and released every three years. This season, the Swedish brand Deadwood and the Swedish School of Textile are on the schedule for fashion shows. Find the show schedule at Copenhagen Fashion Week.com.
The opening reception to celebrate the SS25 was held at the beautiful Brøndsalen in Frederiksberg and was co-hosted by Fashion in Helsinki, Dansk Fashion & Textile, and Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, CIFF.
